OpenAI has expanded ChatGPT for Healthcare with an Epic EHR integration and Healthcare Public Data plugin, bringing patient records and official healthcare information into one governed workspace.
Clinicians can review authorized appointment notes, lab results, medications, specialist recommendations, and patient history directly through ChatGPT or supported EHR workflows.
The new plugin connects nine official healthcare sources, including PubMed, DailyMed, ClinicalTrials.gov, RxNorm, and CMS Coverage. OpenAI reports that physicians rated 99.1% of responses safe across 27 EHR-based clinical use cases. The platform also provides role-based access, single sign-on, audit logs, and support for HIPAA-compliant workflows.
