OpenAI teams up with AWS on a new Stateful Runtime Environment for smarter enterprise AI

OpenAI and AWS are developing a Stateful Runtime Environment for enterprise AI. It lets AI agents keep memory, context, and workflow state so they can run complex multi step tasks reliably at production scale.

OpenAI and Amazon Web Services announced a partnership to build a Stateful Runtime Environment designed for enterprise AI agents. The system runs inside Amazon Bedrock and uses OpenAI models while integrating with AWS infrastructure.

Unlike traditional stateless APIs that respond to single prompts, the runtime allows agents to keep memory, track past actions, and maintain context across long workflows. This enables AI systems to operate across tools, data sources, and enterprise applications while preserving identity, permissions, and governance controls.

The goal is to help developers build reliable production systems such as customer support automation, IT operations workflows, and finance processes where agents must manage multi step tasks over time.
