OpenAI has expanded the GPT-6 family with GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna, designed to bring Astra-level advances to more cost-sensitive workloads. Sol targets complex coding, professional work and agentic workflows, while Luna focuses on efficient, high-volume tasks.
Both models improve factuality, coding and computer use compared with their GPT-5.6 predecessors. OpenAI has also improved prompt caching, offering 90% discounts on cached input-token reads.
API pricing starts at $2 per million input tokens for Sol and $0.10 for Luna, representing a 50% reduction from GPT-5.6 promotional pricing. Both models are available through the API, ChatGPT Work and Codex.
