OpenAI has introduced GPT-6.1 Sol, the latest model in the GPT-6 family, offering capabilities comparable to GPT-6 Astra with greater speed and affordability.
OpenAI classifies the model as Critical for cybersecurity capability and High for biological and chemical capability, applying the same safeguard stack used for Astra.
GPT-6.1 Sol outperformed GPT-6 Sol in five of eight production safety categories and showed comparable or stronger jailbreak resistance. It also produced fewer unintended outcomes during simulated workplace tasks. OpenAI’s internal Codex deployment simulation found 33% fewer severe misalignment flags than GPT-6 Sol, while health evaluations placed GPT-6.1 Sol close to Astra.
